Drought

Ruby longs to leave behind the brutality and endless work of the Congregation.  Her mother claims their savior will come back and release them.  But she'd been saying this for the last 200 years.  All those in the Congregation have lived for a long time but at what cost?

Then Ruby falls in love with a new Overlord and dreams of running away with him.  Guilt holds her back as it's her blood that makes the precious water the Congregation collects special.  Without it, they all will die.

Drought is a compelling tale of the struggles Ruby goes through.  Should she stay and help the Congregation or follow her heart?
